Wedding alert! It's no secret that I love to see iceless beverage dispensing in action. Water is for making the beverages we love. Ice is a waste of ... so much, so follow this Blog site. There's so much cool stuff to learn.
In a recent August, we put forth this 4 dispenser array of 8 beverages on draught at a regional event center. My wife & I are TIPS trained and with our events/catering company, we love to roll out the dispensers and when the bride & groom make homebrew, it's hard to have a more perfect marriage.
We poured what seemed like hundreds of glasses of amazing beverages. Most everyone in attendance was staying on the event center grounds and everyone retired to their cabins, happy. No ice was injured in the production of this event, and most all consumable liquids were enjoyed to the fullest.
Yes, energy was consumed in the dispensing of beverages, but by our calculations, it was less than 20% of what would have been consumed had we used ice. Though lovely when clanking around in a glass, the thermal efficiency of ice is dismal when compared to using electricity for beverage cooling. If you don't need ice, don't waste the water. Use some electrons to cool your drinks and the world will be a better place. Electric jockey box style dispensers, like the ones pictured here, offer about 50% thermal to electric cooling efficiency. You'll never get that out of ice. Consultations are free, and pre-arranged event borrowing might be one of the best decisions you'll ever make.
